Nephew's Quilt

For the 2011-12 school year my brother and I had his oldest grandson living with us and he started to get into sewing with me while I working on the eagle quilt for his grandpa. So he wanted me to make him one I found some fabric at a local Walmart a package of 100 5" square charms (ended up getting 2). It was call green plaid I think. It had several greens and blues and for a little pop I got several yellows and oranges. I did a disappearing 9 patch. The center square was either orange or yellow and then I laid the blues and greens out around them. I sewed them all together and used leftover yellows and oranges for the binding. I had held it up in the living once and just the way the sun was shining through the windows it made me think of a Stained Glass window. I forget how big it turned out but it was just slightly larger than his Grandpa's so I think it was around 75" x 85". He loved it, we told him that it could never leave our house because we know it would end up getting either lost or destroyed. We knew while in our house it would stay nice and whenever he visits he'd have a blanket of his own.
